Donald F Mitchell

Donald F. Mitchell, 88, of Devils Den Road in Altona, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021 at his home with family by his side and under the care of Hospice of the North Country.
He was born in Plattsburgh on October 16, 1932, the son of the late Roy and Yvonne (Gallant) Mitchell.
Donald served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Korean War and later was employed as a carpenter for Local 1042 in Plattsburgh. He was a member of Holy Angels Church, and enjoyed spending winters with his wife at their home in Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Stella (Lafave) Mitchell, his children and their spouses; Yvonne and Patrick Caska of Altona, John and Polly Mitchell of Champlain, Alan and Julie Mitchell of Altona, two brothers and a sister in law; Roy Mitchell of Plattsburgh, Richard and Jill Mitchell of Champlain, a sister in law; Barbara Burnell of Altona, 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
His stepmother Marie Dame Mitchell and a step brother Terry Burnell passed away earlier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 10:30 am at Holy Angels Church in Altona. Interment with military honors will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be offered to Hospice of the North Country.
