Jeff Pescia, 82, of Plattsburgh, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the UVM Health Network-CVPH with his wife by his side. He was born Donald R Pescia in Plattsburgh on December 29, 1941, the son of Salvatore and Bertha (Bruce) Pescia. Jeff was raised in Plattsburgh, New York and graduated from Our Lady of Victory Academy. He was athletic and participated in Baseball, Basketball & Football. Jeff began his career in 1964 as an (LPN) Nurse working at Champlain Valley Hospital in Plattsburgh, New York. In 1968, Jeff entered into Law Enforcement and dedicated the majority of his career to being a Police Investigator (BCI - Bureau of Criminal Investigations). He attended College for Criminal Justice & participated in many In-Service Programs here in Plattsburgh and at the Albany Police Academy. Included were courses in Homicide Investigations, Forensic Lab & Collection of Evidence, Search Warrants, DWI School & Specialized College Credit Courses which pertain to Law Enforcement. Jeff taught Criminal Justice & Emergency First Aid Courses in the Police Academy. Jeff retired in 1990 after 22 years of service. Jeff became the Constable for the Town of Schuyler Falls and worked closely with the Town Justices in acting on a variety of complaints. During his lifetime, he served 10 years in the National Guard acquiring the Rank of [E-7] Sgt. First Class. Coached both Boys' & Girls' School Basketball & Softball. Coached Grasshopper's Baseball for 2 years. Coached Little League Baseball & Babe Ruth Baseball for a combination of 12 years. Operated the Yankee Peddler Antique Shop for 8 years. He began dealing with antiques since 1964. After retirement, Jeff held a number of jobs including working at Plattsburgh Agway. Being of a compassionate nature, Jeff loved being a Hobby Farmer, he had Hereford Cows as Pets that were pampered. Being an animal lover, we had many cats & dogs that were members of our family. Including 2 special little dogs, Tiny and Jessie. Jeff led the effort successfully to name Peru’s Courthouse in Joe Kelley’s honor now known as “The Kelley Courthouse”. He is survived by his wife, Stella (Torrance) Pescia, Son, Scott Pescia, Mother-in-Law, Addie Torrance, Sisters-in-Law, Brenda Pescia, Linda Maille, Teresa McKee & husband, Kevin, close Friend who is like a Brother, Chester Rock and many Friends, Nieces & Nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Salvatore and Bertha (Bruce) Pescia, Infant Daughter, Angela Pescia, Father-in-Law, Clifton Torrance Sr. Brothers, Richard Bruce & Dennis Pescia, Brother and Sister-in-Laws, Clara Bruce, Gilles Maille, Clifton & Joan Torrance Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Victory Church.
