Donald L. Racette, 89, of Plattsburgh, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Clayburg, NY on July 4, 1932, the son of Ernest and Isabelle (DuBrey) Racette.
Donald graduated from Sallaz Academy. Following his graduation he enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country until his honorable discharge. He married Irene Boulerice June 4, 1955 in Mooers, NY. He worked for General Electric in Schenectady, a NYS Trooper for a short time until he became a Corrections Officer where he retired as a Sergeant. In his free time he enjoyed bowling, fishing, boating and golfing. Donald and Irene enjoyed spending winters in Florida and Myrtle Beach.
He is survived by his children; Jeffrey Racette and his wife Patti of Beekmantown, Cheryl Stasiewski and her husband Allen of Milwaukee, WI, Bonnie Lilly and her husband Thomas of Averill Park, NY, Scott Racette and his wife Julie of Port Kent, NY, and Pamela Barber of Peru, his grandchildren; Jeffrey, Jared, Jessica, Danny, David, Abby, Erica, Christine, James, Jaysen, Nicole, and Jocelyn, many great-grandchildren, his siblings, Patricia Hathaway and her husband Mac, Betty Perry, Robert and his wife Alice, Ceil Johnson, Ken and his wife Kathy, his brother-in-law, Dickie Boulerice and his wife Pam, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Irene, his siblings, Gerald, Eugene, and Geraldine.
There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at St. John’s Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s of the Lake Cemetery
A special thank you for the care and love he received from his brother, Ken Racette and his wife Kathy, his sister Ceil Johnson, the Staff of Hospice of the North Country, Becky, Katie, Terry, Susan and especially Heather.
He will be missed dearly by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
