Donald F. Rushford

Donald F. Rushford, 93, of Moffit Road, Plattsburgh, NY passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at UVHN:CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born Churubusco, NY, July 6, 1931, the son of Edgar and Stella Rushford. After Graduating for Chateaugay High School in 1949 , he serviced 4 years in the US NAVY during the Korean War Era. He joined the Plattsburgh City Police in 1954, met and married Elizabeth Ratta and raised three children. He worked construction most of his career as Plumber and retired from Sprinkler Fitter Local 669. He was very involved with the Knights of Columbus, Elks club, Honor Flight , America legion post 20 and American Legion 1619. He is predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Betty), sister Theresa Lagree and his two brothers Harold and Gerald and his dog Rebel. He is survived by his children Danny wife Diana, Joann, companion Joseph F Rotella, Steven, and his cherished significant other Barbara DeSimone of the last seven years. Five grandchildren Jennifer, Michael, David, Nicki and Dakota. Four great grandchildren Ethan, Jake, Mazie and Ahira and two step great grand children Maison and Madden. Calling hours will be held on Friday October 25, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Entombment with full military honors will follow at the Town of Plattsburgh Community Mausoleum.
