Donald B Smart

Donald B. "Don" Smart, 69, of Saranac, NY, passed away at home on Sunday April 20, 2014. He was born in Plattsburgh on April 3, 1945 to Bernard and Laura (Rasco) Smart. Donald graduated from Salaz Academy in Redford, NY. Prior to and following his service as a Medic in the U.S. Army, Donald worked as Machinist for Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut. He then moved back to N.Y. where he established the family farm. He was a retiree of Imperial Wall Coverings. Donald enjoyed gardening, farming, playing guitar, and sharing stories with his loved ones. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Tami Smart; his children, Duane (Alicia) and his mother Sue Nelson (Donald's former wife), Malinda (Eric) Bergstresser, Brandon (Stacey), Quinn (Jenna Martineau), Misty (Thomas Decker), Benjamin (Katie), and Dakota (Amy Tedford); grandchildren, Kyle, Eli, Makayla, and Liam; siblings, Lawrence Smart, Ann (John) Brousseau, Louise Rascoe, Judy (Norm) Taylor, Wayne Smart, and Pauline Smart. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Cadyville, a memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel.
