Saranac Donald J. Wood Jr., 74, of Saranac, NY passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at the Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, VT. He was born in Saranac, NY on May 5, 1942 the son of Donald and Helen (Hoole) Wood Sr.. Donald retired from the New York State Department of Transportation after 36 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, feeding the deer, gambling, and cutting wood. Donald was a member of the Beaver Lodge Hunting Club. His greatest love was to be with his family and grandchildren and loved his camp where he lived for the last 7 years. Donald is predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Gary and Billy Wood, and his sister Diane Wood. Donald is survived by his first wife, Elizabeth Wood, his children; Larry Bodway and his wife Lisa, Bruce Bodway, Randy Wood and his wife Heather, Doug Wood and his companion Debbie Lamell, Brenda Wood and her companion Richard Roberts, and Wayne Wood and his wife Nancy, his sister, Penelope Wood, his sister-in-law, Venus Wood, his grandchildren; Angela, Buddy, Alicia, Roxanne, Austin, Logan, Jake, Shawn, Karissa, Ryan, and Kayla, one great-grandchild Sayben, his many friends and especially Ken and Marlene Thomas, and many nieces and nephews. At Donald's request, there will be no public calling hours. Services will be private for the family.
