Mrs. Doris M. Marvel, 81, of Seneca Drive, Plattsburgh, New York passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the CVPH Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh, New York on April 25, 1929 the daughter of Ernest and Pauline (LeClair) Pecore. Until the time of her death, Doris was employed full time by the Diocese of Ogdensburg as an Administrative Assistant for the Department of Christian Formation for 35 years. She enjoyed spirited political discussions, watching football, especially the New York Giants. Doris enjoyed bowling, going on bowling trips and going to casinos with her best friend Betty, reading the New York Post, following her grandchildren's activities and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Board of Directors for the Plattsburgh Women's Bowling Association and she was a founding member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church, Cumberland Head. She was predeceased by her parents Ernest and Pauline Pecore, her husband, Leslie R. Marvel, her brothers, Ernest "Joe" Pecore, Charles "Bucky" Pecore and Thomas Pecore. Doris is survived by her children Elaine Plunkett and her husband Jeff of Kissimmee, FL, Leslie Marvel of Plattsburgh, Karen Marvel of Plattsburgh, Paula Brockway and her husband Perry of West Chazy, Teresa DeRubbio and her husband Albert of Wichita Falls, TX, Michael Marvel and his wife Colleen of Churchville, NY, two brothers; Richard Pecore of Plattsburgh, David Pecore and his wife Jane of Oswego, a sister, Theresa Smith and her husband Oliver of Escondido, California, her grandchildren; Shawn Lambert, Kelly Stanley, Steven Stanley, Anthony DeRubbio, Joseph DeRubbio, Lauren Brockway, Zachary Brockway and Grace Marvel, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday, May 10, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, Cumberland Head. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
