Dorothy J Clinebell

Dorothy J. Clinebell, 85, of Shalimar, FL, and formerly of Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on July 19, 2015 at her home in Florida under the care of Hospice. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 19, 1930 the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Stones) Geiger. She graduated from Penn Township High School in Pennsylvania in 1947. Dorothy worked for G.C. Murphy Co. in Irwin, PA. She married Robert P. Clinebell on January 16, 1954 in Paintertown, PA. Dorothy was an Air Force wife moving with her husband to several bases throughout the U.S. including, Niagara Falls, NY, Plattsburgh, Charleston, S.C., Newburgh, NY and finally back to Plattsburgh. She began working at Marriott in 1972 at SUNY Plattsburgh in food service, retiring in 1991. Dorothy was a member of the American Legion Post 20 Auxiliary, The Jet Sets Square Dancing Club and Tuesday Night Ladies Bowling League at Plattsburgh Lanes. She enjoyed baking, cooking, puzzle books and soap operas. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, her husband Master Sargent Robert P. Clinebell, Ret., her siblings; George "Sonny" Geiger, Ethel Miller and Donna Greene. She is survived by her children; Colonel Robert P. (Jeanne) Clinebell, Ret. of VA, Brenda (John) Ireland, Plattsburgh, Barbara (Senior Master Sargent Robert, Ret.) Reed of FL, Betty (Ed) Clinebell of Plattsburgh, Bonnie (Jerry) Clinebell of TX, her grandchildren; Kerri Ireland, Kelly (Ashley) Ireland, Jason (Misty) Reed, Justin Reed, Josh (Keri) Reed, Shayne Clinebell and Stephanie Snide, five great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, her sister, Helen Crabtree of FL and sister-in-law Lillian Clinebell of PA, a special niece Debbie Fore of FL, several nieces and nephews also survive her. Calling hours will be held on Monday August 3, 2015 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel, burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
