Chazy Lake Earl F. "Deke" Dekin, Jr., 59, of Wilfred King Road, passed away at his home on Friday, March 28, 2008. He was born in Watertown on May 7, 1948, son of the late Earl F. and Eva (Amerosie) Dekin, Sr. Earl was a graduate of Augustinian Academy in Carthage. After high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving for four years in South Viet Nam. Earl was employed in police work until 1976 where he became a New York State Corrections Officer. He retired from Clinton Correctional Facility in June of 2002. Earl enjoyed hunting and fishing. Earl is survived by, his wife, Sandy Dekin, two children, Renee Dekin of Hamden, Connecticut, Christopher Dekin of Plattsburgh, a sister, Mary Lou Woolschlager and her husband, Lawrence of South Carolina, one nephew and two nieces, Wayne, Michelle and Heather. Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 2, 2008 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street in Plattsburgh. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 1:00 PM from Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Yonkovig, Pastor of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh officiating. Burial will be later in the year in St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Earl's memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
