Earl D Schmidt

Earl D. Schmidt, 96, passed away peacefully, at his home on Tuesday, June 4, 2019. He was born on July 11, 1922, in Syracuse, NY, the son of Herman and Louise (Webber) Schmidt.
Earl grew up in Syracuse during the depression. He served his country in the United States Army in WWII, fighting both fronts in Europe and the Pacific; he was the last member of the Army stationed at the Plattsburgh Barracks military hospital before passing the keys to the Navy. He enjoyed being outside, working on the garden or going fishing. He and his wife often traveled to Florida. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He’ll be missed by his family and friends for his story telling of his military experiences.
He is predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Mildred (Murray), his grandson, Ian Yando.
He is survived by his wife, Martha, his children, Michael Schmidt (Toni), Debbie Forbes (Victor), Cathy LeBlanc (Jim), Lori Gorman (Barry), Sue LeBlanc-Durocher (Greg), his grandchildren; Linda Carpenter, Paul Schmidt, Jonathan Schmidt, Brent Davis, Brandon Davis, Chris Gorman, Joshua Gonyea, Matthew Gorman, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be private for the family. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. A celebration of life will be at a later date.
