Cadyville Mr. Earl A. " Maxie" Winch, 82, of Akey Road in Cadyville, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh on August 10, 1930, the son of the late Harold and Mary (Daley) Winch. Earl served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He later retired from the N.Y.S. Dept. of Corrections in 1982 and the U.S. Postal Service in 2004. He was a member of St. James Church and enjoyed vegetable gardening and remodeling his apartments. He is survived by four children; Patricia Winch of Lorton Virginia, Mary Jane Winch of Juneau, Alaska, Jerome Winch of Morrisonville, Dean M. Winch of Cadyville, and several nieces and nephews from the Tobin, Lintner, Smith and Winch families. He was predeceased by his wife, Claire Winch on March 20, 2007, his parents, his brothers; Jerome who was killed in action in World War II, Carl, and his sisters; Annabel Winch Lintner, Nevada Winch Smith and Barbara Winch Tobin. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 3 Park Row in Cadyville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 1:00 pm at St. James Church in Cadyville. Interment with military honors will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be offered to the Cadyville Fire Department or St. James Church.
