Edna M. "Rita" Lavalley

Edna (Rita) LaValley passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Clinton County Nursing Home. She was born in Mooers Forks on June 23, 1932 to Fred and Marceline (Monette) Brassard. in 1949, she married Marshall Decosse and shared 3 children. Following the loss of Marshall to cancer, she continued working for JCEO as a community coordinator. In 1973, she married John Hall and lived in Tennessee until his passing. Rita returned to the North Country where she reunited with a grade school friend. She married Clarence LaValley in December 1995. Together they enjoyed their home in Plattsburgh, gardening, dancing, and drives in the country. Rita will best be remembered for her ability to sew anything. Her love of music was a comfort and joy that got her through her final years. She is survived by her children Dennis Decosse, Paulette (JP) Demarse, Diane Therrian, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is predeceased by brothers Alvin and Arthur Brassard, and sisters Eldora DeCoste, Sister Rita Brassard and Beatrice LaValley, grandson Jeff and great grandson Josh Decosse, and in May, her husband Clarence LaValley. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 1;00 to 3:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Interment will be in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery in Churubusco at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
