Edward C. Chartier, Sr., 91, formerly of Riverview and most recently of Plattsburgh, passed away on January 21,2025 at Pine Harbour under the care of Hospice of the North County with his family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh on June 8,1933, the son of Wilfred and Mary Chartier. Ed enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1953, and became an Aviation Mechanic. He was stationed at numerous Air bases across the United States with his family. When relocating he would load the station wagon with his wife, kids, and the dogs to travel to his next assignment. Ed served in Vietnam in 1971, and was honorably discharged in 1975 as a Tech Sergeant after 22 years of service. Ed's second career was as a bus driver for the Saranac Central School District before his retirement in the 90's. He was a member of the VFW post 125, and enjoyed being with his family outdoors camping, fishing, or just hanging with those He loved. Ed always was working on something mechanical and regularly needed one of his kids to "hold the light" for him. They quickly became professional light holders. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Betty(Taylor) in 2017,as well as his son-in-law Derrick Wells in 2021,numerous siblings,and brother and sister-in-laws. Ed is survived by his children; Edward (Ann) Chartier Jr., Richard Chartier, Jean (Rafa) Becerril, Beverly Parker, Patricia (Alex Edwards) Chartier, Sharron (Daniel Mariano) Wood, Susan Wells, Paul (Doreen) Chartier and Tandy Chartier. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, brother Frederick Chartier and two sister-in-laws, Meredeth (Wayne) Staley and Judy Taylor. Calling hours will be held on Friday January 31,2025 at Church of the Assumption in Redford, NY from 11:00 am until noon. Mass will immediately follow. Full military honors will be held at the burial in the Church of the Assumption Cemetery later in the year.
