Edward F "Ed" Daugherty

Edward F. Daugherty, 82, of Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the UVM-CVPH Medical Center with his family by his side, hours before his wife Elizabeth passed. He was born in Butler, PA on September 22, 1936, the son of Anthony and Anna Ruth (Christie) Daugherty.
Ed served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Ed married Elizabeth Farrell at the Air Force Base Chapel on October 20, 1956, enjoying 62 years marriage. He worked as a Corrections Officer and retired from Clinton Correctional after 32 years of service. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, taking many road-trips throughout the North East and making several summer Maine trips. Ed often tested his good luck with scratch-off tickets and playing the lottery where he won often. In his free time he enjoyed being competitive, bowling or playing cards with family and friends. His greatest joy was supporting his children and grandchildren in all their events; traveling to all sporting events and recitals. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, rooting for the Pirates, Steelers, and the Penguins. He will be missed by all for his sense of humor, and his calm, kind, and friendly demeanor; always taking time to enjoy a conversation. Ed was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather his entire life, putting his family above all else.
He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers; Anthony “Doc” and James “Jimmy”, and his sister Betty.
He is survived by his son Kevin Daugherty and his wife Eren, his daughter, Wendy Briggs and her husband Edward, his grandchildren; Brennan, Elliott, and Hayden Daugherty, Kelcey and Keagen Briggs, his siblings; Marion, Dorothy, Anna, Donna, Doris, Peggy and Mary Jane, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no public calling hours. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 1:00pm at St. Peter’s Church, Plattsburgh.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Elmore SPCA. The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of R6 at CVPH for the care Ed and the family received. To the individuals at Meadowbrook Healthcare, who loved and cared for our parents, we thank you.
