Edward John Hawks

Edward John Hawks, age 66, of West Chazy NY, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2022 at UVM Medical Center in Vermont. He was born in White Plains, NY on September 1, 1956, the son of Benjamin and Frances (See) Hawks.
He was a 1975 graduate of Horace Greeley High School. He joined the Chappaqua Volunteer Fire Department right after High School. He continued his volunteer passion, by becoming a member of the Beekmantown Volunteer Fire Department when he was reassigned to the Plattsburgh Air Force Base in 1990.
Edward entered the United States Air Force in February 1977. He traveled to Japan, Greece, Hawaii, and many other locations during his service. His final assignment was Plattsburgh Air Force Base, where he was honorably discharged in February 1994. He later joined the Vermont Air National Guard, retiring in February 2001, after 24 years of service.
Edward went to work for New York State in 1994. He wore many hats during his time with the state, finishing with the New York State Gambling and Wagering Board at Akwesasne Mohawk Casino, retiring on January 10, 2018.
Edward enjoyed watching NASCAR, Major League Baseball and Football, both on TV and in person. He also enjoyed watching his daughter play sports.
Edward is survived by his wife of 28 years, Liz, and his daughter Alexys of West Chazy, NY. He is also survived by two sons, Gregory of Boulder, CO and Jeffrey of Boston, MA. Along with his brother Robert Hawks and Sister-In-Law Susan, as well as his nephew Richard and niece Karen. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Roger Hawks.
Calling hours will be Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 10:00 to 12:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with military honors will be at Saratoga National Cemetery at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, or the family. A reception will be held after the service at American Legion Post 20 on the Quarry Road in Plattsburgh.
