Plattsburgh Edwin Leon Mackey, Sr., 76, of Hickory Street, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2008 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Plattsburgh on March 6, 1932, son of the late Clarence and Grace (Bouvia) Mackey. Edwin was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He was a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post #20 in Plattsburgh and a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #125 in Plattsburgh. Edwin was employed by the United States Postal Service for over thirty years, retiring in 1992. He a bowler and an avid New York Yankee and Dallas Cowboy fan. Edwin is survived by his companion, Shirley Hanion of Plattsburgh, four children, Alyce Provost and her husband, Michael of Peru, Grace Mackey and her companion David Clark of Concord, North Carolina, Edwin Mackey, Jr. of Ausable Forks, Susan Provost and her companion, Scott Thompson of Plattsburgh, a sister, Joyce Alldredge of Ellenburg, Shirley Hanion's children, Brenda Rivers of Plattsburgh, Marie Mattioli and her husband, Jeff of Plattsburgh, Ann Hanion and her companion, Brian Thurber of Plattsburgh, several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Edwin was pre-deceased by his parents, Clarence Mackey, Grace Bouvia (Mackey) Knapp and his step father, Howard Knapp, two brothers, Lester Mackey, Clarence "Red" Mackey and a sister, Beulah Lagoy. There will be no public calling hours. A Funeral Service with full military honors will be held privately for the family only. Burial will be in Whispering Maples Mausoleum on the Tom Miller Road in Plattsburgh.
