Eleanor H Berger

Plattsburgh Mrs. Eleanor H. Berger, 98 of Lake Forest Drive, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at her home. She was born on January 20, 1919 in Winthrop, Ma., the daughter of the late Moses and Gertrude (Lippa) Balkan. Eleanor owned and operated Lippas Jewelers on Margaret St. with her husband Robert for over 40 years until their retirement in 1980 . She was a member of Temple Beth Israel and former board member. Eleanor was an avid golfer ,winner of several championships at Bluff Point Country Club, an accomplished bridge player, and loved the challenge of the NY times crossword puzzles. Her quick wit and dry humor will always be remembered . She is survived by her son Jeffrey and his wife Nancy of Burlington,Vt, her beloved grandchildren, Michael ,Adam ,Seth and Marina. Sister in law Charlotte Osvar and her daughters , Judy and Diane, Barnstable ,Ma and nephew Joel Baden ,St. Albans,Vt. A special thank you to Jennifer Gidding and the hospice team . Interment will be in Beth Israel Cemetery in Plattsburgh. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
