Eleanor R. Marcus, of Brookline, MA, formerly of Plattsburgh NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2013. Eleanor was 92. Born in Lynbrook, Long Island, NY in 1921, Eleanor was a long time resident of Plattsburgh after moving there in 1939. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert P. Marcus of Plattsburgh. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Kimball and husband, Scot, of Harrisburg, PA and her son, Paul Marcus and his wife, Anne, of Brookline, MA. She was the grandmother of Eric and Lisa Kimball of Harrisburg, PA and Robert and Christopher Marcus of Brookline. MA. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Crisologo of Asheville, NC and brother, Albert Edwards of Genoa, NY and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Carolyn Conklin of Locke, NY. Eleanor was a graduate of Plattsburgh Teachers College (now known as SUNY Plattsburgh), was a teacher in the Chazy, NY school system and had been an employee of the New York Telephone Company. Over the years, Eleanor was involved in many civic activities in Plattsburgh and was an avid bridge player and golfer. She had a great love of music and enjoyed attending musical events both at SUNY Plattsburgh and local high schools. A private funeral has been planned. The family will be hosting an open brunch for friends and family from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm at Anthony's Restaurant, 538 New York Route 3, Plattsburgh, NY 12901 on Sunday, September 8, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eleanor's memory to the "Eleanor Marcus Music Fund at the Plattsburgh College Foundation" and mailed to the Foundation at 101 Broad Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
