Elizabeth M "Betty" Daugherty

Elizabeth M. “Betty” Daugherty, 88, of Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the UVM-CVPH Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born in Riverview, NY on March 10, 1931, the daughter of Henry and Lena (Soucy) Farrell.
She worked as a Nurse’s Aide through her entire career on R3 at CVPH until her retirement. Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, taking many road-trips throughout the North East and making several summer Maine trips. Her favorite holiday to celebrate was Christmas, where she loved decorating with her grandchildren. She was her children and grandchildren’s #1 fan, traveling and never missing one of their events. She always made sure those around her knew where they stood and was a genuine, honest person. Betty’s greatest love was for her grandchildren. She was very loyal to her family and siblings.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Edward, just hours before her own passing, her sisters; Genevieve and her husband Warren, and Joan Provost, her seven “Aunties,” her brothers-in-law, Edward Sullivan and John Swinyer.
She is survived by her son Kevin Daugherty and his wife Eren, her daughter, Wendy Briggs and her husband Edward, her grandchildren; Brennan, Elliott, and Hayden Daugherty, Kelcey and Keagen Briggs, her sisters; Jean Sullivan, Joyce Swinyer, brother-in-law, Alfred Provost and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no public calling hours. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 1:00pm at St. Peter’s Church, Plattsburgh.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Elmore SPCA. The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of R6 at CVPH for the care Betty and the family received. To the individuals at Meadowbrook Healthcare, who loved and cared for our parents, we thank you.
