Elizabeth B Thanos

Elizabeth B. Thanos passed away on March 8, 2022 at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh, New York after a courageous battle with dementia.
She was born on December 19, 1925 in Duquesne, Pennsylvania, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Baran) Tomko. Betty was predeceased by her husband Daniel L. Thanos in 1994 and her sister Adrienne Tomko.

Betty was a graduate of Sharon High School Class of 1943.
She was employed by Buhl Hospital (now Sharon Regional) from 1943 to 1950 in the admitting office. Betty was a longtime volunteer at Saint Joseph Parish beginning in 1951 and later volunteering at Notre Dame Parish in Hermitage, PA., doing fundraising for the new church.

In 1957, she was the first Shenango Valley resident to appear on the original 'Price is Right" show in New York City. She was a returning contestant for three days and won many prizes.

Betty enjoyed playing bridge and the socialization with her many friends when she lived at Stone Ridge. She retained contact with her high school friends throughout the years when they had "500 Club' monthly. Betty and her husband Dan learned to play bridge and that became a source of enjoyment for both of them.

Betty was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed sewing, cooking and needle crafts.

Betty is survived by her daughter Linda Parks and her husband Robert. She spent the last few years of her life in Plattsburgh, New York with them in assisted living and nursing home care.

Betty had three grandchildren: David (Melissa), Matthew (Michelle) and Jocelyn Fenton (David). Betty had eight great grandchildren: Tyler and Ashley Parks, (Danbury, CT), Carly, David, Emilie and Audrey (deceased) Fenton, (Adams, NY) Reginald and Andrea Parks (Williston, VT).

Entombment will take place in Saint Rose Mausoleum in Sharon, PA. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
