Plattsburgh Mr. Elzear H. Levesque, 86, of Wallace Hill Road in Plattsburgh, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with family by his side. He was born in Berkshire, Vermont on October 28, 1926, the son of the late Henry and Aurore (Simard) Levesque. Elzear served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and medic from 1947 to 1951 in the 11th Airborne Division and the 9 Corps.. He was later employed as a composer for the St. Albans Vermont newspaper and then the Press Republican for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taxidermy, tropical fish, birding, gardening and was an animal lover. He enjoyed sharing stories about his childhood on the family farm with his parents and eleven siblings. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Renee (Morel) Levesque, his children and their spouses; Roger and Marlene Levesque of Tewksbury, Ma., Diane and Albert Sorrell of Kenosha, Wi., Daniel and Brigitte Levesque of Morrisonville, Susan and Richard Dodge of Jay, Clare and David LaPier of Plattsburgh, his siblings; Roland Levesque of Massachusetts, Walter Levesque of Chicago, Ill., Rachel Levesque of Massachusetts, his grandchildren; Amanda and Jason Levesque, Emma and Lloyd Sorrell, Carissa, Rosanna and Camille LaPier, and his beloved dog " Little Bear". In accordance with Elzear's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 10:00am at St. Peter's Church. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to the Adirondack Humane Society or the Foundation of CVPH.
