Eric John LaRocque died unexpectedly at his home in Vienna, Virginia on Friday, July 31, 2015. He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. to Mary Lou and John LaRocque on January 12, 1982. A graduate of Plattsburgh High School, Eric excelled in athletics, particularly golf, played trombone in the jazz and concert bands, and built many lasting friendships. He attended Virginia Tech and graduated with a masters degree in engineering. At the time of his death, he resided with his beautiful wife and two wonderful children. He was employed as a project manager with Dewberry Consultants. Eric is survived by his wife Kim LaRocque, their children Jacqueline and Louis, his mother, Mary Lou LaRocque-Megarr and her daughter, Elisa, his father John LaRocque and wife Donna, along with their children Tara, Ryan, Patrick, Sean, Olivia, and Quinn. He is also survived by Kim's family in Virginia, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, all who loved Eric very much. Eric loved the outdoors, especially time spent at Whiteface Mountain, on Lake Champlain, and in the fresh air only the North Country had to offer. He was a devoted husband, father, son, nephew, cousin, and friend. Those who knew Eric understood his passion for life. Funeral services for Eric were held in Virginia on August 5, 2015. A memorial service to honor Eric's life will be held in Plattsburgh on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at St. John's Church, 20 Broad Street, Plattsburgh, NY at 11:00 am, with a luncheon to follow at the church immediately following the service. To honor Eric's memory, the family asks that you take a bike ride, hike in the woods, kayak, or walk in the fresh air. A college fund is being established in the near future in Eric's name at youcaring.com to assist in securing his children's future.
