Erla Sampica

Erla Sampica, 81, of State Route 374, Chazy Lake, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the UVM Health Network-CVPH with family by her side. She was born on June 2, 1937 in Reykjavik, Iceland, the daughter of the late Bjarni and Olof Helga (Kristmundsd) Gudjonsson.
Erla was employed as a dog groomer at Chasands Kennel and later at Noah’s Ark Pet Shop and most recently as a corrections officer at Clinton Correctional Facility for over 17 years until her retirement. She enjoyed animals, especially horses and cats.
She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Sampica, her children and their spouses; William C. and Roberta McCoy of Colorado Springs, CO., Robert D. and Betty McCoy of Hermon, NY., Patrick S. and Jennifer McCoy of Plattsburgh, Kristen Sampica of Chazy Lake, 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, an infant son Richard McCoy and a daughter Cynthia L. McCoy.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 pm in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dannemora on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 10:00 am. Memorial donations may be offered to the Disabled American Veterans.
