Ernest N. Deyo, 73, of the Spellman Road, Beekmantown, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the CVPH Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on June 4, 1939 the son of Rufus and Viola Mae (Dupont) Deyo, Sr. Ernie grew up on the family farm and after high school started his own dairy farm on the Spellman Road in Beekmantown. He subsequently worked as a driver at Plattsburgh Quarry, a civilian employee at PAFB, an operator of heavy construction equipment, and retired as a school bus driver from Beekmantown Central Schools. He also held the offices of Beekmantown Tax Assessor and Justice of the Peace. Ernest was a member of St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy, the North Country Squares, Beekmantown Busy B's, Beekmantown Democratic Committee, Beekmantown Lion's Club, Senior Citizens' Council of Clinton County and Champlain Valley Beekeepers' Association. Ernie was an avid gardener and enjoyed wood crafts, camping, driving his many "machines" and his beloved pooches Meeko and Cocoa. Ernest had a zest for life and especially enjoyed Christmas and other holidays with his family. He was honest, kind, generous, humble and had a great sense of humor with a smile and a joke for everyone that attracted new friends wherever he ventured. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by those who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Annette (Sears) Deyo; four children: Kelly Moody and her husband Miles, Todd Deyo and his wife Tammy (Carter) Deyo, Holly Sims and her husband John, and Nikki Davison and her husband Brent; his 10 grandchildren: Kelsey Moody, Shauna Gilligan, Christin Deyo, Jeremy Deyo, Alexis Sims, Parker Sims, Kayleigh Raville, Jordan Deno, Brendan Davison and Evan Davison; his 4 great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Leo Deyo and wife Roxie, Joe Deyo and wife Pat, AnnaMae Dubuque and husband Kenneth, and sister-in-law Joanne Deyo. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Lawrence Deyo. At Ernie's request there will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Hospice of the North Country or the Beekmantown Fire Department in Ernest's name.
