Esther C Ledoux

Altona Mrs. Esther C. Ledoux, 85, of Station Street, Altona, NY passed away on Friday April 2, 2010 at her daughter's home under the care of Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Oneonta, NY on November 18, 1924 the daughter of Ernest and Ina (Edwards) Hungerford. Esther had many interests, but was most known for her gardening and her delicious home-cooking. She was humble, accepting of all, and a lot of fun to be with. Esther was a stellar mother and an exceptional grandmother. She is survived by her son, Roy Ledoux and his wife Carol of Lakeview Terrace, Calif., Diane McIntyre and her husband John of East Islip, Long Island, and Jeanne Forkey and her husband Christopher of Altona; her grandchildren, Tina and her husband Sean Lily, Brandy, Roy, Connie, Denise, Danielle, Jennifer Duprey and her husband Donnie, Katie and her husband Nick Rowe, and Lance; her great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Roy, Shawna, Lilly, Ashland, Brody, Daniel, Jessica, Haleigh, a great great grandchild Conner; two brothers and sisters in law, Kenneth and Shirley Hungerford of Averill Park, N.Y., Lionel and Charleen Hungerford of Sandwich, Ma., a sister and brother in law Sally and Don Avery of Otego, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John "Coo Coo" Ledoux whom she married July 15, 1945, in Oneonta, N.Y., her parents Ernest and Ina Hungerford, one sister Laura, two brothers Charles and Clyde , and a son Gregory. The family would like to thank Meadowbrook Healthcare (Subacute and 4th Floor staff) for their skill and compassion with a very special thanks going to Kristie and Penny (Gail). The family also extends their gratitude to the special people of Hospice. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 2 to 4 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 3123 Miner Farm Road in Altona. Funeral services will follow at 4 pm from the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. A reception will follow at Holy Angels Church Hall.
