Fenton M. Thompson, 55, of Plattsburgh, passed away Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Brigham
and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA with his loving wife by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Plattsburgh on June 16, 1964, the son of Fenton C. and Elizabeth (Murphy) Thompson.
He graduated from Peru central school and attended Clinton Community College .
Fenton worked for the Department of corrections for 36 years retiring in June 2019 .He stood strong in that brotherhood / sisterhood and made so many lifelong friends he loved like family. He was an avid bowler in the Thursday Industrial league for over 30 years and he loved that bowling family. He also was in a dart league and loved the friendship he shared with his team. He was an avid hunter spending many seasons hunting with his father and friends at the Hatch Brook club in Gabriels NY and spent many hours fishing with his Father on Lake Champlain . He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankee Fan. He loved to travel with his wife, family and friends. He also loved watching his grandson, nephews and nieces play their sports and cheering for them on the sidelines but his biggest joy was mentoring and spending time with his grandson Nevyn. He touched so many lives in his 55 years of life and each person felt a special bond with him.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 17 years, Jill, three daughters he was very proud of Jessica and her husband Wiley,Ashley and her fiancé Lance, Caitlin and her companion Jonathan, his devoted and loving parents Fenton and Elizabeth Thompson ,his loving sister Deborah Thompson , beloved grandson Nevyn, father in law and in laws he had a special bond with; Christopher Boslet, Julie Tarasavage, Michael Tarasavage, Edward and Sandra Boslet, Mary Jo and Tom Sweet , Christopher Boslet Jr, Duane and Sharon Boslet,several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, the Boslet/ Senecal families surrounded him along with his fur buddy Pierre and all the wonderful friends he made through his well lived life . He was predeceased by his mother in law and grandparents. Donation can be made in his memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute leukemia division the care he received there was incredible. Thank you to all the Doctors and nurses he met and took care of him during this time at Fitzpatrick Cancer Center, Dana-Farber and BWH you all made him feel supported and cared for.
Due to the current pandemic, services will be private. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be offered to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute Leukemia Division.
