Plattsburgh Fidelia H. Lessor, known to her friends as Dee, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. She was 102. Born on December 7, 1915 in New Haven, VT, she was one of 5 children of Walter and Ruby (Betts) Hanmer. She was married to Ralph J. Lessor for 56 years, until his death in 1992, and is survived by her children and their spouses: Margaret Springer of Pittsford, VT; Kathryn and Gregory Spancake of Crossville, TN; and David and Heidi Lessor of Redford, NY; three grandchildren, Jacob Lessor, Justin Lessor and Sara Spancake as well as three great-grandchildren, Damian, Piper and Parker Lessor. Fidelia worked in the cafeteria at St. John's School for over ten years and as a bookkeeper for JC Penney's for over 20 years. She will be remembered for her numerous volunteer contributions. She was a Girl Scout troop leader when her daughters were young, Treasurer of the St. John's Rosary Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Mary Immaculate Chapter #479 for many decades. She worked as an AARP Tax Aide, a volunteer for Bingo for St. John's Academy, and was an avid fundraiser for the Catholic Daughters and the Senior Citizens Council of Clinton County. She received numerous awards and recognitions for her endless hours of volunteer work. She also loved to visit casinos and play cards. She had the most generous of spirits, happiest when she was giving to others, and cared deeply for her family and friends. She will truly be missed but never forgotten. Funeral services will be held in the Spring of 2018.
