Frances E "Fran" Latinville

d. June 24, 2015

Plattsburgh Mrs. Frances E. "Franny" Latinville, 89, of Wolfe Way, Plattsburgh, NY passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the UVHN-CVPH Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Frances was born the sixth of seven children in Dannemora, New York on May 13, 1926 to Nelson Edmund LaJoie and Nellie Etta (LaRocque) LaJoie. She graduated in 1943 from Dannemora High School and prior to continuing a closer relationship with the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement, Graymoor in Garrison, New York found an interest in the business world. Thereafter, having graduated from the Plattsburgh Business Institute, Frances began her career in business at Wright Morrissey Contractors in Plattsburgh. In 1949, Frances co-founded Latinville's Furniture and continued in its operation until her retirement in 1985. Always an exuberant lover of life, Frances enjoyed traveling through Europe, South East Asia, Hawaii, and wintering as a "snow bird" with her sisters in Florida. Those who knew Frances found her conversation engaging. Possessing an open friendly personality, with a green thumb for any plant, and just an ear for all genres of music. An accomplished piano player, who many will recall, was an enthusiastic entertainer willing to bring her talent into any festivity. Her effervescence for life, her "joie de vivre", touched everyone she met and affected many generations of friends and relatives. As a working mother, Frances performed all duties of a successful career woman. While raising children with a belief in family, God, strong values, work ethic, parsimony, lessons she was taught by her loving parents that she carried through her life's journey. Frances enjoyed flower gardens, visiting with family, of which she was very proud, baking and cooking. Quite often friends, relatives and business associates were welcomed guests at the regular family dinner table to enjoy a meal that embraced love, comradery and fond memories to all who attended. In addition to her parents, Frances is predeceased by her husband George Latinville in 1977, her sisters; Rita Dugan, Theresa Helen LaPointe, Aurore Victoria LaJoie, Valeda Marie Antoinette Duval Shatraw and a brother Lawrence Peter LaJoie. Frances is survived by her children, Thomas G. Latinville and wife Susan, James N. Latinville and companion Donna Kelly, and her daughter and care giver Kathy Latinville. Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, who will miss their "Nanu" forever; Jennifer Fordley and children Ryan Thomas and Lauren; Jeffrey and Theresa Latinville and children Jeffrey, Marissa, and Olivia; Jamie Latinville and companion Kellee DesMarais and children Collin, Nolan, Alyssa, Evan and Sofie; Zachary and Maria Latinville and children Matthew and Michael; Hillary Engstrom and companion Jarrod Trombley and children Zack and Drew; Mika and Wendy Wahl and children Leighn and Ella; Kasa Wahl-Losee and Mark Losee; a sister Veronica Rothermel and husband Donald Rothermel, and sister-in-law Beverly LaJoie, and many, many nieces and nephews who will miss their "Aunt Franny" every day, and with all of us, together, cherish our happy lifetime of memories and laughter.
