Francis J "Frank" Gates Sr

Plattsburgh Francis "Frank" Joseph Gates Sr., 73, of Plattsburgh, passed away on Saturday, August 2, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Plattsburgh on April 26, 1941, the son of George R. Gates and Florence (Everhart) Gates. Frank was owner and president of Gates Roofing and General Construction Co., Inc. He gave many years of service to the people of the North Country. His level of expertise in his industry was well known in the North Country and throughout the State of New York. Frank was a tail gunner in the United States Air Force. He was an excellent trap shooter who participated in Olympic tryouts, the Empire State Games and myriad Olympic trap shoots in cities in the United States and abroad. He also loved fishing, landing many large bass and walleye. Frank was a man who loved people. He was genuinely interested in everyone he met. He will be remembered forever for the many people who loved and respected him. Frank was predeceased by his parents. Frank is survived by the loves of his life, his wife Judith Gates, and his children, Francis J. Gates Jr. and his wife Brenda of Dannemora, Steven F. Gates of Plattsburgh, Kelly Yuska and her husband Mark, of Jacksonville, FL, Dan Gates and his wife Gloria of West Chazy, Gregg Gates and his wife, Elizabeth of Plattsburgh, and Terri Sicilia-Monaco and her husband Joe, of Mansfield, MA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alyssa and Katelyn Gates, Carol and Robert Sicilia, Shelby and Kelci Gates, Dani, Taylor, Haley, and Ethan Yuska, Hunter, Skye, Parker, Dallas, and Jagger Gates, and Bailey, Jackson, and Maximillion Gates. He is also survived by his brothers, George Gates, George Hart, Robert Gates, Christian Lombard, and sisters Audrey McGuigan, Nancy Bentine, and Candace Gates.
