Frank Roy Rabideau Jr

May 11, 1933 — February 18, 2021

Frank Rabideau was reunited with his beloved wife Lucille after passing away at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, surrounded by the devoted staff of CVPH.
Born on May 11, 1933 to Frank and Clara (Guerin) Rabideau in the town of Altona, Frank lived in the Irona and Altona area before taking up residence in Plattsburgh, New York. He attended St. Peter’s School and worked in a variety of occupations (hotel bell cap, gas station attendant, and mechanic) before finding his true calling at Georgia Pacific Paper Mill in Plattsburgh, where “Slim” was a devoted employee for 38 years. He retired from the company in 1995 and began his next phase of life as a church volunteer and dedicated family man.
Frank was a military veteran of the United States Air Force, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He married Lucille Duquette on December 27, 1958; they were the parents of three children who loved them dearly. Lucille died in 2016.
Frank is survived by his three children: Michael (and Jeanette) Rabideau; Mitch Rabideau and her wife Bonnie Mello; and Mark Rabideau and his partner Anthony Davis. He is also survived by a grandson, Brent Rabideau; step-grandchildren, Richard, Shawn, and Sarenia Agoney of Peru and Morrisonville; brother-in-law Clark (Margaret) Duquette; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Lucille; his sister, Louella Patnode, his daughter-in-law Joyce Rabideau; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Frank was a force to be reckoned with, and that is a modest description. His sense of humor and infectious smile were his greatest attributes, along with his love of his children, grandchildren, relatives, and many friends on Facebook. While he was a man of deep faith, Frank always paid it forward in many ways by volunteering in his church community. He knew that his family and friends could depend on him for a good laugh, and his presence will be sorely missed.
Despite setbacks in his health the last few years, Frank persevered and maintained his composure in the face of daunting circumstances. He knew what he wanted in life, and he let everyone know his true intentions. That dedication to his own principles and ideals made him the man he was.
Frank also got to call himself “author” before he passed away. He collaborated with Michael on the memoir Notes from the Father in 2019, and he got to blow his own horn to anyone who would listen to him. This self-proclaimed “Christian Knight” was a role model to all.
Everyone agreed that he could light up a room during a blackout with his personality. Frank Rabideau will be missed by everyone, and everyone is a better person thanks to his influence on us.
Calling hours and service will be 12:00 to 3:00 PM on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh; the service will start at 2:00 PM. Burial will be later in the year at St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association in Frank and Lucille’s name.
