Frank M. Sklenarik, 89, of Beacon Hill Road, Morrisonville, NY, passed away on Sunday June 28, 2020 at the Essex Center in Elizabethtown, NY after a battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born in Passaic, NJ on January 16, 1931 the son of Frank and Anna (Kovacs) Sklenarik. Frank grew up on a farm in Hancock, NY, after graduating high school he joined the United States Marine Corps, serving his country during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged he went on to Broome Tech Community College, later graduating in 1959. The same year he began working for New York State Electric and Gas and married the love of his life Jean Merrette. A year later Jean and Frank moved to Plattsburgh where he worked as a Hydro Plant Engineer, retiring after 30 years. He was a member of the Schuyler Falls Zoning Board, the Plattsburgh Noon Kiwanis Club, where he served as Lt. Governor and the Elks Lodge #621, where he went through the chairs and was Exalted Ruler from 1981-1982 and volunteered at CVPH Medical Center. Frank loved being outdoors in the woods or working around his home. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, sailing, biking and making maple syrup.
Frank was predeceased by his parents and his brother Robert of Sidney, NY. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Jean, a daughter Liliane Sklenarik and son-in-law Edward Payne of Holliston, MA and a grand puppy Wrigley, several nieces and nephews also survive him.
A Mass of Christian of Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday July 7, 2020 at 10:30 am at St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville.
Donations in Frank’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements entrust to Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.
