Freeman J. Supley, Jr., aged 92, residing in Plattsburgh, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023 at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility with family by his side. He was born in Lyon Mountain, NY on May 28, 1930, the son of Freeman and Gertrude (Wilson) Supley, Sr.
Freeman graduated from Lyon Mountain High School and worked for a short time at Republic Steel before continuing his education at Plattsburgh State Teachers College. He enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He began his 37 year career as a science teacher at Ellenburg Central School, continuing at Lyon Mountain High School, and retired from Northern Adirondack Central School. In retirement, he also taught at the Correctional Facilities in Dannemora and Altona. He was a key support to running the family business of Supley's Grocery in Merrill, NY.
He is survived by his loving wife Theresa (Benware) Supley, his children; Darlene (Sam) Lashway of Altona, Freeman (Marianne) Supley, III of Peru, John (Laurie) Supley of Saranac and Paul (Rebecca) Supley of Plattsburgh, seven grandchildren; Dusti, Mallory, Dylan, Katie, Eddie, Elliott and Brenna, five great grandchildren; Alexis, Leo, Reese, Trent and Kamryn, a sister-in-law; Marsha Thompson and her children Jennifer and Jessica, several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings; John "Pierre" Supley and Teresa Supley and his nephew James Supley.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
