Gabrielle C Bishop

Gabrielle C. Bishop, 99, formerly of Pine Harbour and most recently of the Vilas Home passed away peacefully of natural causes on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the CVPH Medical Center with family by her side. She was born in Champlain, NY on March 5, 1918 the daughter of Napoleon and Josephine (Tetrault) Bechard. Gabrielle attended St. Mary's Academy in Champlain. She married Raymond Henry Bishop of Plattsburgh on June 24, 1937. He predeceased her on March 2, 1963. She was also predeceased by her parents, a daughter Susan Harrington, brothers; Arthur, Orel, Gerard, and Robert and her sisters; Agnes and Fran. Gabrielle worked for Montgomery Ward in the Credit Department for 19 years. She was a devoted member of St. Peter's Church where she volunteered extensively. She was a member of the Secular Order of St. Francis, the Altar and Rosary Society, Daughters of the Hearts of Mary at the Regina Maria Spiritual Life Center. She was also a church and hospital chalice minister. She is survived by two daughters; Brenda Schindler and her husband Barry of Conway, SC, Nancy Morgan and her husband Frank of Durham, NC, a sister Irene Babbie of Champlain, nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one great great grandson, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Church. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
