Gail L. Giroux, 70, passed away peacefully December 4, 2021 at CVPH Medical Center with family by her side. She was born March 16, 1951 in Keene Valley, NY to James and Carolyn (Donivan) Smith.
Gail graduated from Chazy Central Rural School, Class of 1969. Following graduation, she went on to earn an Associates in Accounting from Clinton Community College. Her career path included time as an independent representative for both Home Interiors and PartyLite. She retired after many years as Teacher’s Aide for Special Education Students at Beekmantown Central Middle School, and continued working past retirement, as both Secretary and Treasurer for District 3 Fire Department.
In 1980 Gail met the love of her life, Marcel L. Giroux, whom she married after a brief courtship. They settled in Plattsburgh and went on to raise three children on the family farm. Together they celebrated 41 years of marriage in October.
Gail enjoyed spending time with friends and family in any capacity, but her favorite adventures included car-trip shenanigans, crafting, and gathering around a table to break bread. She had a strong faith in the Lord and deep love for her country. Her heart was always full when serving others, which meant you would often find her volunteering at local churches and charities.
In addition to her husband Marcel Giroux, she is survived by sons, Issac Giroux (Jess Aylsworth) and Anthony Giroux (Hope Giroux); daughter, Andrea Giroux (Greyson Abt); two grandchildren, Isidore and Lillian Giroux; mother, Carolyn Smith; brothers, Gary Smith (Ginny Smith) and Todd Smith (Laurie Zone-Smith); sisters, Pamela Carter, Christine Ozkan (Sefik Ozkan), and Amy Grabkowski (Paul Grabkowski); many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, James Smith.
