Gail Marie Phifer, 69, of Cumberland Head Road, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away early Saturday morning, December 6, 2014 at UVHN:CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was surrounded by her husband and beloved children and grandchildren. She succumbed to a short battle with cancer. Gail was born in Plattsburgh on November 28, 1945 the daughter of the late Charles J.and Marjorie Jean (St. John) Cobb. Gail completed a secretarial program at Clinton Community College. Gail then became employed as a secretary for twenty five plus years for local attorneys. Gail was a strikingly beautiful woman, but more importantly her true beauty lied within. There are many admirable words that could be used to describe Gail's character, but one that stands out is selflessness. Those who knew her, knew her enormous heart and her ability to see the good in everyone. Gail was a giver in every way possible from her work as a volunteer at the food shelf to her open door policy at the dinner table. She also had a strong sense of faith which guided her throughout her life. Gail had a true appreciation for the beauty of nature and the Adirondack Countryside. She and her husband of 24 years, Gary, enjoyed taking drives through the country side where she often would take pictures and used these as an inspiration in her passion for painting. Gail's other interests and joys in life included shopping, interior design, decorating and traveling with her husband and in-laws. However, her greatest passion in life came from spending time with her family, especially time spent with her children and grandchildren at camp. Gail touched many lives and will be forever missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Survivors include, her husband Gary Phifer, her sisters Brenda Barber of Keeseville and Wanda Carlo of Florida; brother and sister-in-laws Mary Abbott of Plattsburgh, Karen & Paul Mayer of Burlington, VT., Mark and Laurie of Plattsburgh, and Craig Phifer of Redondo Beach, CA.; her sons; Michael and Kyle Kasper of Plattsburgh, her daughter April Kasper of Plattsburgh; her granddaughters Ariel Voss of Plattsburgh, Tianna Barber of Keeseville and Alexis Hardin of South Carolina; great grandchildren Alea & Carter and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and grandparents. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday December 9, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
