Plattsburgh FORMER CITY BUILDING INSPECTOR DIES Gary G. Baker, of 3 Bushey Blvd., Plattsburgh, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2008 at CVPH Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family and friends, after a year long battle with cancer. He was 64. Born October 7, 1944, he was the son of Francis L. Baker and Rita (Tacy) Baker. Gary graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1962 and served in the U.S. Army in 1965 during the Vietnam era. A long time member of the Bricklayers Local #192, Gary was well known in the North Country for his talent as a bricklayer. He started and taught the bricklayers apprenticeship program at CV Tech in the 1970's. In 1981 he became an Inspector for the City of Plattsburgh. He retired in 1999. Gary was an avid boater, spending time on his boat "The Sugarbake". He also loved hunting with his boys and spending time at camp. He was happiest spending time with his family. Gary loved to travel. Gary is survived by his wife, the former Susan Toussaint, two sons, Gary and his wife, Lisa, their children Justin, Shelby and Hanna; Stacy and his wife Winema and their son, Bo, all of Plattsburgh. He is also survived by his two brothers, Jim and his Wife, Teia of Plattsburgh, Jeff and his wife, Carolyn of Maine. He is survived and loved by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and his special friends, Gerald and Karen Burdo, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron and Sandie Weaver and his sister-in-law, Linda Bates. Calling hours will be Sunday, December 21, 2008 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 11:00 am from Our Lady of Victory Church, 4919 South Catherine Street in Plattsburgh. A luncheon will follow the funeral at the Family Center, immediately behind the Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Memorial donations in memory of Gary G. Baker may be made to Our Lady of Victory Church, 4919 South Catherine Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901. Online condolences may be made and memorial candles lit at www.brownfuneralhomeinc.com.
