Gary A Wood

Peru Mr. Gary A. Wood, 61, of the Mannix Road Peru, New York passed away unexpectedly Sunday October 5, 2008 at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Altona, New York on December 7, 1946 the son of Albert and Tessie (Duquette) Wood. Gary was a thirty year member of the Laborers Local #186, retiring in 2001. In his retirement he spent time working on his home and the homes of family and friends. Gary enjoyed helping various racers at Airborne International Speedway. He was Track Champion in the Flying Tigers Division in 1995. Gary was a soft spoken champion of life and will be sorely missed. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Gary was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Tessie Wood, and a brother James Wood. He is survived by his wife of twenty six years Darlene (Bouyea) Wood of Peru, two sons; Phillip Wood and his wife Kathi of Nassau, New York, Joseph Bouyea and his companion Carla Pellerin of Peru; three daughters; Nancy LaVare and her husband Daryn of East Nassua, New York, Ruth DeFiglio and her husband Peter, Jr. of Niverville, New York, Jody Frechette and her husband Chad of Peru, three brothers; Leo Wood and his wife Harriett of Sioux City, Iowa, Owen "Bob" Wood and his wife Joan of Beekmantown, David Wood and his wife Cheryl of Morrisonville, New York, one sister, Ethel Brown of Plattsburgh, his beloved grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Thursday, October 9, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A funeral service will follow at 8:30 p.m. with the Rev. William G. Reamer, Chaplain at CVPH Medical Center officiating.
