Gene E. Gladue
Nov 21,1929-Feb 4, 2022
Was born in Bristol Rhode Island on Nov 21 1929 to Wilfred and Blanche Gladue. He spent much of his early years in Bristol where he worked on his Uncle Peter’s Ferry business and obtained his captains license. He loved being on the water but wanted to serve his country. In the early 50’s before the Air Force had their own uniforms he joined the US Air Force and became his lifelong passion. In 1951 he married the love of His life Barbara Evelyn Remieres and they had 6 children and enjoyed 70 years of marriage together. He spent 20 years in US Air Force and served his country during the Korean War and spent a year in Vietnam where he received commendation from the Vietnamese for his work in establishing correct lab function for blood bank and pathology. While in Vietnam he was deliberately run over by Vietcong on a motorcycle on the streets of Saigon, after surgery on his knee he remained in Vietnam and completed his tour. He returned home and retired from the Air Force as a MSgt and took a job as blood bank supervisor at CVPH where he worked until he retired in 1993. He was a faithful husband, father, served his church as a lector and Eucharistic Minister at St Peters, studied his Bible consistently, and loved playing guitar, keyboards and singing.
On Feb 4, 2022 He went home to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as the word declares to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord 2 Cor 5:8
