Plattsburgh Mr. Gerald A. "Jerry" Bushey, Sr., 85, formerly of Bushey St., Morrisonville, NY passed away Friday June 17, 2016 at the Champlain Valley Senior Community Facility in Willsboro, NY after a long battle with numerous afflictions. He was born in Morrisonville, NY on August 23, 1930 the son of Alexander and Marjorie (Jessey) Bushey. Jerry graduated from Morrisonville High School and served three years in the U. S. Army serving in Korea in the engineering batallion. He was wounded, recovered and was honorably discharged and received numerous accomodations and medals for bravery. He married Alice Frenyea, the love of his life on May 31, 1953. They enjoyed fifty five years of marriage until she passed away on May 21, 2008. After the army, Jerry enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in 1954 and retired after twenty years of service. He was stationed in Bermuda, Hong Kong, China Spain, Japan and finally Montana. While stationed in Japan, Jerry worked the Japanese Air Police. He was a combat measures instructor and also a judo instructor for women and children. He started a youth club where he was stationed which earned him a trip to Hong Kong resulting from his public relations with the Japanese Police. Japanese Magazine labeled him Mr. Air Force depicting his daily routine with children's activities. After his retirement from the Air Force, Jerry went to work at Plattsburgh Air Force Base as a civilian employee, retiring after twenty five years of service where he was known as Jerry the locksmith. He earned his AAS Degree from Clinton Community College. Jerry was an avid hunter and he raised and trained beagles for hunting dogs. He was one of the founding members of the Morrisonville/Schuyler Falls Ambulance Service in 1981, today known as Morrisonville EMS. He served as an EMT for many years. Jerry was a member of the American Legion Post #1619, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #179, the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #155, Knights of Columbus Council #6067, retired Sergeants Association and St. Alexander's Church, Morrisonville. He was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Marjorie Bushey, and his wife Alice Bushey. Jerry is survived by his children; Brenda Chattman, Tina and Sherman Rebideau, Gerald A. Bushey, Jr., Tammy and Bill Borkenhagen, Scott Bushey, a brother Albert Bushey and his wife Marion, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Wednesday June 22, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday June 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alexander's Church, Morrisonville. Interment with full military honors will follow at St. Alexander's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers friends wishing may donations to the American Legion Post #1619. Members of the American Legion Post #1619 are asked to meet Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home for services. Members of the Knights of Columbus Council #6067 are asked to meet Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home for services. Jerry's family would like to thank the Morrisonville Ambulance for the "final ride in the rig", the Elizabethtown Ambulance, Willsboro Ambulance, Steve Bowman, Dr. DeLucas and the V/A clinic and staff, High Peaks Hospice, Champlain Valley Senior Living, V/A Motorcycle Club and the American Legion Post #1619.
