Gerald J Hayes Sr

Plattsburgh Mr. Gerald J. Hayes, Sr., 74, of the Bradford Road, Plattsburgh, New York passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the CVPH Medical Center with his family by his side following a short illness. He was born in Plattsburgh, New York on March 4, 1935 the son of Elisha and Grace (Garrow) Hayes. Gerald had worked for the Clifton Park Highway Department retiring in 2000. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. Gerald was predeceased by his parents Elisha and Grace Hayes, two brothers; Leland in infancy, Donald Hayes, two sisters; Ruth Moore and Catherine Riley. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Jessie E. Hayes of Plattsburgh, one son Gerald J. Hayes, Jr. and his fiancé Jennifer Golding of Jeffersonville, Vermont, two grandchildren, Kaleb and Sierra Hayes of Jeffersonville, Vermont, two brothers; Clifford Hayes and his wife Mary of Plattsburgh, New York, Gordon Hayes of Albany, three sisters; Elizabeth Pluff of Point Siena, Florida, Hazel Jacobs and her husband James of Plattsburgh, Shirley Capriola and her husband Nick of Port Richey, Florida, a nephew who was like his son Steven Hayes and his wife Cheri of North Creek, New York, a niece who was like his daughter Anita McElroy of Rotterdam, New York, several other nieces and nephews also survive him. Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 19, 2009 from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A funeral service will follow at 4:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. William G. Reamer, Chaplain at CVPH Medical Center officiating. Interment will follow at St. Alexander's Cemetery.
