Gilberte C Lussier

West Chazy Mrs. Gilberte C. "Ma Lussier" Lussier, 80, of Ashley Road, West Chazy, NY passed away on Saturday October 29, 2011 at CVPH Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born in Napierville, PQ Canada on April 3, 1931, her mother's birthday, the daughter of Donat and Antoinnette (Girard) Fortin. Gilberte went to a one room school house that she had to walk five miles to with her brothers and sisters up to the sixth grade. She went to convent for seventh grade. She quit school to help her parents with the children and the family meat market. After her brother took over the family business, she went to work at a cannery for a few years. She married Armand Lussier on February 27, 1954 in Napierville, PQ at St. Cyprien Eglise Church. They bought the Vincent Jerry farm on the Ashley Road which they owned and operated as the Lussier Farm for fifty eight years. Five years after they bought the farm, they had a daughter Carmen and three and a half years later they had a son Claude. In 1970, Gilberte learned on her own to read, write and speak English. In 1979 her daughter Carmen started selling Avon which she loved helping her with and talking to everyone. She loved cooking, canning, flower and vegetable gardening, sewing and talking on the phone with relatives and friends. Her grandson Eric was born October 20th, 1998 and her grand daughter Lynn was born May 28th, 2000. They were the love of her life. Gliberte was a member of St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Andre L'heureux, Roger Beaudin, Edmond Pouport, Andre Lussier, Regeanne Lussier, Jean Ive Poirier, Roger Lussier, Gisele Sorel and Maurice Landry, one niece Louise Clement and two nephews, Pierre Beaudin and Denis Clement. She is survived by her husband of years Armand Lussier of West Chazy, a daughter Carmen Lussier of West Chazy, a son Claude Lussier of West Chazy, two grandchildren, Eric Lussier-Deso and Lynn Lussier-Deso both of West Chazy, her sisters; Francoise L'heureux of St. Jean, PQ, Marielle (Albert) Poirier of St. Blasie, PQ, Julienne (Roger) Guidon of St. Bernard de LaColle, PQ, Marie Claire (Guy) Clement of St. Jean, PQ, Nicole Pouport of Napierville, PQ, her brothers Romain (Rollande) Fortin of Brossard, PQ, Gille (Simone) Fortin of St. Jean, PQ, her sisters-in-law Louise Lussier of St. Paul PQ., Monique Lussier of St. Jean, PQ, Pauline (Gilles) Breton of Iberville, PQ, her brothers-in-law Jean Paul Lussier of Napierville, PQ, Louis-Emile Lussier of Chambley, PQ, Girard (Noella) Lussier of Napierville, Jacques (Lyne) Lussier of l'Acadie, PQ, several nieces and nephews also survive her. Calling hours will be Friday, November 4, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St, Plattsburgh, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church, West Chazy. Entombment will follow at Whispering Maples Mausoleum on the Tom Miller Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to her grandchildren.
