Glen A. Drapeau, 73, of Peru, NY, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019. He was born in Plattsburgh on September 15, 1945, to Alfred and Josephine Drapeau . On December 31, 1974, he married Susan Adkins.
Glen served in Naval Intelligence for four years. Pursuing his love of collecting, he became an acknowledged authority on coins and stamps throughout New England. For his next career, he pursued another interest to became an accomplished woodworker. Then while climbing the trails and mountains of his beloved Adirondacks, Glen came to his most fulfilling career—30 years as a wildlife photographer.
He loved documenting birds and animals in their habitats and sharing his joyous passion through the images he captured.
His award-winning work has been featured on numerous calendars and in national publications,
and his images were exhibited in galleries across the North Country.
He is survived by his loving wife Susan. Also surviving are his siblings Joseph Drapeau of West Chazy; Angela LeBel (Lenny) of Concord, NH; Wayne Drapeau of Stoney Brook; Jackie Andrews (Patrick) of Peru; Sheila Poindexter of Plattsburgh; and Gloria Drapeau of Plattsburgh, and several well-loved nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents and his younger brother, Clyde.
Per Glen’s wishes there will be no calling hours or services. In lieu of flowers or cards, kindly send a donation to the Salvation Army, Glen’s preferred charity.
