Plattsburgh Gloria Jean Brannen, 67, of Foxfire Drive, Plattsburgh, NY passed away unexpectedly Thursday May 7, 2009 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Olanta, South Carolina on June 24, 1941 the daughter of Abner and Wilma (McKnight) Baker. Gloria was a Licensed Practical Nurse and had taught at Bullard Haven Nursing School in Stratford, Connecticut. She was an artist and enjoyed sketching, oil painting and was a cartoonist for the Plattsburgh Air Force Base newspaper in the early 70's. Gloria was predeceased by her husband of 52 years Richard G. Brannen on April 13, 2009, and her parents Abner and Wilma Baker. She is survived by four sons; Richard Gordon Brannen of Kissimmee, Florida, Michael Dean Brannen and his wife Karen of Plattsburgh, New York, John Clifford Brannen and his wife Lorri of Columbia, Illinois and James Devron Brannen and his wife Tina of Arden, North Carolina, ten grandchildren; Annmarie of Houston, Delaware, Jason, Joshua and Amanda of Plattsburgh, New York, Matthew of Columbia, Illinois, Melissa, Devron and Mackenzie of Salem, Alabama, Mark and Robin Randall of Plattsburgh, New York and a great grandson, Zachary of Plattsburgh, New York, one brother, Abner "Billy" Baker of Okinawa, one sister Margaret Delphine Dodson of Bremerton, Washington, two brothers-in-law; John Ralph Brannen and his wife Debbie and David Gene Brannen and his wife Joyce all of South Carolina, several nieces and nephews. Gloria's family would like thank her caregivers; Rebecca LaFountain, Tiffany Beese and Sarah Bechard for allowing her to fulfill her dream of returning to her home.
