Gregory J. Topnick

April 26, 1954 — September 3, 2024

Gregory J. Topnick, 70, of Plattsburgh, NY, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024. Born on April 26, 1954, in Plattsburgh, he was the beloved son of Anita Topnick and a proud graduate of Mount Assumption Institute, class of 1972. Greg’s greatest joy was his daughter, Emily, who was the center of his world. His professional life began at the Crisis Center, where he not only served on the helpline but also met the love of his life, Cyndi, who sadly predeceased him in 2007. Since then, Greg found comfort in the company of his daughter and his close friends. Known for his tireless work ethic, Greg continued working up until his final day. At social gatherings, he took on the cherished role of grill master, tending to the grill with dedication and ensuring every guest left satisfied. His candid nature, especially around children, earned him the nickname “F’n’ Topnick” among friends. Though not outwardly expressive, Greg showed his love through thoughtful actions. He was meticulous in preparing Emily’s car for any journey, always ensuring the tires were roadworthy and reservoirs full, to ensure her safety. His concern for her well-being was a testament to his deep affection. Greg was passionate about politics, keeping the needs of those with less in the forefront. All political conversations would end with Greg’s tagline, “It's a corporate conspiracy.” Each year, when Em asked about his Christmas wish, he consistently responded with “World Peace.” Greg is survived by his daughter, Emily; his in-laws, Thomas and Catherine McKinney; close friends Barbara and John Hebert; his Autozone family; and numerous other family members and friends. He is predeceased by his wife, Cyndi, and his mother, Anita. In accordance with Greg’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Condolences may be sent to Brown Funeral Home, addressed to Emily Topnick. In lieu of flowers or donations, please honor Greg’s memory by participating in this year’s presidential election and praying for world peace.
