Plattsburgh Guy E. Dufresne, age 93, died peacefully early Saturday morning on August 1st at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh. Born in Montreal, Quebec on January 17, 1922, he emigrated to the U.S. in 1966. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Juliette Dufresne (nee Cournoyer). He is survived by all of his children, Odette Dufresne & Yves Maltais of Mont Shefford, Quebec; Helen & Louis Doin of East Greenbush, NY; Yves & Becky Dufresne (nee Talbot) of Fairport, NY; Pierre Dufresne & James Credle of Newark, NJ; and Roger & Jean Dufresne (nee Wigton) of Kansas City, MO; and grandchildren Rochelle (nee Doin) & Matthew Toomer, and Kyle Doin, Emily Dufresne, Justin Dufresne and Lauren Dufresne, and many nephews and nieces among whom, Louise (nee Marcel) & Allen Henry. He may best be known to Plattsburgh residents as one of the former owners of the Midtown Motel and Restaurant, where he was given to bursting into song while working the grill as a short-order cook. In Montreal before moving to Plattsburgh he worked from the WWII years onward as a tool-and-die machinist. He retired to a house in Point au Roche north of Plattsburgh to dabble in his various hobbies; astronomy, model railroading, bird watching, sailing, painting, reading, tinkering. He is best remembered for his humor, his resourcefulness, his love of Chopin and vintage French music, his patience and gentleness. There will be a memorial gathering at Brown Funeral Home at 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh on August 12 between 5:00 and 7:00 pm.
