Gwendoline J. Donovan

Gwendoline Joan Donovan passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024, in Plattsburgh, her home for the last nine years. She was a gypsy prairie girl, born two days short of Christmas, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on December 23, 1937, and criss-crossed Canada and the United States throughout her 86 years, living in Vancouver, BC, Ottawa, Washington DC, Denver, Columbus, Goshen Indiana, Sonoma California, Rockhill SC, and for two long stretches in the long American prairie in Missouri and Kansas, before finally ending at her daughter’s home in Plattsburgh. She loved to travel, entertain, dine out, decorate, and collect family. Joan is survived by: her daughter Sally Kehoe and her spouse Sandy Morley, Plattsburgh; son Mark Beatham and his spouse, Margarita Garcia-Notario, Plattsburgh; son Duncan Beatham and his spouse Karen Penska, Fort Walton, FL; and son Paul Beatham, Lake Wylie SC; her granddaughters Fallon Beatham-Torres and her spouse Louis Torres, Gabriela Beatham-Garcia, Sydney Beatham, and Micaela Beatham-Garcia; and her great grandchildren Savanna Johnson and Dez Gadwood; and a passel of adored nieces and nephews in Vancouver and throughout Canada and the US. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Emily Powell and Thomas Smith; her sisters, Madge Rustebakke, Muriel Smith, and Mary Dunbar; her brothers, Ted, Lionel, and Maurice Smith, her daughter-in-law, Beth Beatham (Miller), and three husbands, Bob Beatham, Don Swihart, and Robert Donovan.
