Harold Frederick Akey February 25, 1953 — January 20, 2025 Plattsburgh, NY Harold Frederick Akey. of Bradford Road and Oak Street Plattsburgh, NY went home to be with his savior Jesus Christ, peacefully Monday, January 20, 2025 surrounded by his family. Harold was born on February 25, 1953 to Howard and Doris (Stanley) Akey of AuSable Forks, NY. Harold attended school at Holy Name and AuSable High School. He retired in 2007 after 26 years of service to the Department of Corrections but most recently worked for and loved his job at Meals on Wheels. Left to remember Harold, are his wife Linda, his mother in-law Jackie Stryatameyer, his brother in-law Jim (Shawn) Covey, his children and their spouses, Sam (Kayla) Akey, Harold (Kristy) Akey, Jodie (Jason) Cook, Jamie (Mike) McDonald and Tonya, his grandkids Sam, Zak, Cameron, Kylie, Connor, Haley, Austin, Cooper, Alex, Danielle, Andrew, Matthew and Brooklyn, his sister Cheryl (Paul) Aubin, his nephews Andrew (Kellie-Ann) Aubin, David (Susan) Briner James Covey, Bobby Kerger, and Craig (Pattie) Mitchell, his nieces Theresa (Karl) Drahovskey, Jessi (Bill) Thwaits, Angie (Bill) Ouimette, Jamie (Ryan) Ledwith, Melissa Slagenweit, Ashlee (Josh) Gordon, Nikki (Nate) Ritchie, Sharon Briner Hewston, Jennifer Kerger, Brandi Wicks and many others from other states Harold, also known as Poppy, PoPo and Grandpa Harold was a man who enjoyed the simple life in the Adirondacks. He enjoyed hunting with the guys, fishing, J-E-T-S football and Coors Light. He was a gifted musician, car mechanic and computer nerd. Above everything else, Harold loved and enjoyed spending time with his family and adventuring with his wife Linda. He is preceded in death by his parents - Howard and Doris; his brother David and sister CeCeila, sister in-law Diane Stapleton, nephews Steve Aubin, Joey Aubin,Erin Covey, Roger Williams Jr. and niece Shawn Briner Summit In honoring Harold's wishes there will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Post 1619 on Rand Hill Road in Morrisonville on Sunday January 26th 2025 at 2pm. Family and friends are welcome to join us.
