Plattsburgh Mrs. Helen A. Defayette, 87, formerly of Palmer Street, Plattsburgh, New York passed away Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility with her family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh, New York on December 20, 1921 the daughter of John and Rose (Supernaw) Baker. Helen had been a member of the Ladies of the Elks, Plattsburgh Lodge #621 and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents John and Rose Baker, her first husband, Edward Burton Fordham who was killed in action in WWII, her second husband Bernard Defayette and several siblings. Helen is survived by three sons; David Defayette of Plattsburgh, Larry Defayette and his wife Joan of Champlain, John Fordham and his wife Kathleen of North Hampton, New Hampshire, two daughters Barbara Lucas and her husband Leslie of Plattsburgh, Ellen Drewniak of Las Vegas, Nevada, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. At Helen's request there will be no calling hours. Graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Peter's Cemetery.
