Plattsburgh Helen Elizabeth Harrington, 92, formerly of Adams Center, NY and Broad Street, Plattsburgh, NY died on Thursday September 8, 2016 at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, where she had been a resident since October 2014. Helen was born in Watertown, NY on the 27th of January 1924 and lived on the Morse family farm on Dry Hill Road. Following graduation from Watertown High School she enrolled in nursing school at the House of the Good Samaritan in Watertown. While in nursing school she enrolled as a World War II Nursing Corp Cadet. She left nursing school to marry Hollis Clifton Harrington on the 25th of December 1943 in Watertown, NY at the Stone Street Presbyterian Church. Hollis and Helen were the parents of two children Sharon and Sherwood. They resided on the Harrington family farm until their divorce in 1954. Helen, her parents and Sharon and Sherwood eventually settled on Church Street in Adams Center. She worked at various jobs in Watertown while the kids were in school. Once both Sharon and Sherwood had finished their education and moved away, Helen took classes at Jefferson Community College and obtained her Nursing LPN diploma. She continued to finally complete her training as a Registered Nurse at the age of 51, and graduated with honors. She worked at the House of the Good Samaritan in Watertown until moving to Plattsburgh. She retired in Plattsburgh as a Registered Nurse from CVPH Medical Center. Her grandmother, mother, daughter and daughter-in-law were also registered nurses. Her parents; Lena and Ray Morse, her two brothers Robert and Ray Morse passed away before her. Surviving are her daughter Sharon Kelly and her companion Bruce Fry of Plattsburgh, her granddaughter Elizabeth and her husband Tom Proietti and their children Olivia and Lena , two grandsons James and his wife Tammy Orr, their children Brady and Brooks and Robert Orr and his children Adelayde, Astrid and Nicholas. Also a son Sherwood and his wife Susan Harrington, Grass Lake, MI, a granddaughter, Dr. Jennifer Harrington and her husband Dr. James Strohschein, a grandson Kurt and his wife Melissa Harrington, their children Zachary and Bryce. Helen is also survived by three nieces and two nephews as well as Bruce Fry's children, Christine Fry and her husband Mark and his granddaughter Ezri Fenton Fry, son Robert Fry, and his daughter Leah Fry. A graveside service will be held on Saturday October 1, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Brookside Cemetery in Watertown, NY at the Morse family plot.
