Helen A Whalen

October 30, 1927 — June 3, 2022

Helen A. Whalen, of Addoms Street, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022, at CVPH with family by her side. She was born in Kingston, N.Y., on Oct. 30, 1927, the daughter of Leo and May (McNulty) Krengloskie.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: JoAnn Whalen of Sun City Center, Fla.; Karen and her husband, Joe LaPointe of Half Moon, N.Y.; Patricia and her husband, Howard Smith of Clarence Center, N.Y.; Joseph and his wife Chris Whalen of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; and Mary Beth and her husband, Robin Weeden of Plattsburgh, N.Y. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Whalen in 2011. They had been married 63 years at the time of his passing and enjoyed many of those years raising their family, operating their business, Norco Concrete, and spending time at their camp on Loon Lake.

Helen, known to many as "Nana," lived independently in the family home, drove herself around town, and maintained her wit all at the impressive age of 94. She spent much of her time with her granddaughter, Meghan Helen Weeden, as well as her four-legged grandchildren, Tessie and Phoebe. She will be very much missed by all of them.

At Helen's request there will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be scheduled at the family's convenience so they may all be together to honor her. Memorial donations can be made to Elmore SPCA.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. 518-561-3980. Online condolences may be offered at www.brownfuneralhomeinc
